Don't Text Your Ex (Without Thinking About the Consequences First)

texting and divorce

These days, cell phones make it extremely easy to say what you want to someone without having to interact (or deal) with that person face to face.  Not only that, but sending a text message creates a record that can be saved or printed out to be used as incriminating evidence to be used against you in all kinds of matters (divorce cases, custody - now known as parental rights - disputes, domestic violence petitions, etc.)

When you think about it, which is what you should do first; it might just not make sense to say exactly what is on your mind in the heat of the moment.

If, however, you find yourself in the situation where your ex, the other parent of a child, or anyone for that matter is attempting to use your own words against you; you may wish to contact an attorney to help put your text in proper context.
