Maureen Higham’s primary areas of practice are bankruptcy, probate, wills and trusts, family law, real estate and corporate formations.

Attorney Higham has more than 20 years of experience in the legal field. Prior to attending law school, Attorney Higham worked at this law firm for more than 15 years as a Paralegal and Law Office Manager. She also previously ran a real estate Title Company and has significant experience in most legal areas.

While helping to raise her family, she attended the University of New Hampshire and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Following the birth of her second child, she earned her Juris Doctorate Degree from the Massachusetts School of Law and is licensed to practice in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Attorney Higham is presently a member of the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Bar Associations, the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Women’s Bar Associations, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, American Bar Association and New Hampshire Association for Justice. She is also currently serving as Selectman for the town of Allenstown. She is proficient in American Sign Language. We are proud of Attorney Higham’s accomplishments and the high degree of drive, dedication and compassion she brings to her cases.

An accomplished equestrian, she no longer owns horses, but is the caretaker of numerous pets.

Along with her husband, Attorney Higham enjoys Harley-Davidson motorcycles and spending time with her children at the seashore. She currently resides in southern New Hampshire with her spouse and two children.

Representative Cases:

Bankruptcy – Electrical Engineer and his spouse were unable to pay their mortgage along with other debt after he lost his job. A bankruptcy filing allowed them to keep their home and discharge most of their credit card debt.

Probate Court litigation – Dispute among family members as to who would be the best guardian for their mother resulted in the appointment of a reasonable outside public guardian located by Attorney Higham. A significant litigation expense was avoided.
